I have been in the education field 24 years. The last 24 years I have worked for the Davie County School system. I tutor when needed at the present time. I have been in the Special Education field for 12 years including a variety of different settings including children who had disabilities, including cognitive, emotional, or physical disabilities. I graduated from Salem College with a degree in K-6 elementary education and Special education K-12 then I went on to get certified in 6-9 Language Arts and Math. I have received certifications in ESA+ tutor and Hill Rap Math and Hill Rap writing in the state of NC. I have served on many leadership committees over the years. My husband and I have been married for 37 years with two children, a boy and a girl with 6 grandchildren. I have always had a passion to teach children. I look forward to getting to know your children and your family and have an outstanding year.

Cherie Yarbrough

I have been an educator with Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools for 34 years. I graduated from UNC-Greensboro with a degree in elementary education (K-6). Later, I earned a master’s degree (K-12) in reading education from Appalachian State University. I have received certifications in ESA+ tutor and Ortin-Gillingham Approach in the state of NC. My philosophy of education is that all children are unique. Each learn at a different pace. Each learn in a different way. We have to meet them where they are and facilitate their learning progression. My husband and I have been married for 31 years. We have one daughter. My family and I enjoy hockey, the beach, and family game night. I am excited about this new adventure and look forward to the upcoming school year.

I graduated from Davie High School in 2007. I have worked as a sub-contractor in business/construction for the last 17 years. I'm a lateral entry for middle school/high school. I am also the Information Technology expert and also ESA+ certified tutor in the state of NC. I graduated from UNCG with a major in psychology and a minor in computer science. I've always found an amazement in how the human brain operates, and in turn, how a computer's “brain” works. I've always loved learning something new and telling others about it. I'm not married but I am a father to four fur babies. My main hobbies include building computers, reading, and woodworking. I am looking forward to the upcoming school year.

Falon Hughes

Hello, and welcome to my classroom. I am Mrs. Hughes and I teach the electives at our great school. I teach music, art, Spanish, stem, and sometimes Latin and sign language. I have a B.S. degree in Graphic Design with Web Design & Multimedia being my specialties. I am a NC certified bee keeper, a certified art life coach, and a mentor for Hives for Heroes. I live with my fiancé, and my two Autistic boys on a 22-acre farm where we raise honey bees, baby doll sheep, chickens and more. I believe learning does not stop once you leave the classroom. Having not only two Autistic children myself, but also being on the spectrum I understand how special children learn, and enjoy every moment when they realize they have learned something new. I believe every child has the power to succeed no matter what challenge they may face in life. I have always enjoyed chasing after knowledge and learning new things. I enjoy farming, gardening, reading, singing, painting, and making jams in my spare time. I always like to bring a spark of magic to the classroom, and being that my uncle is the “real” Santa Claus, I like to share that spirit with my students. I look forward to working with each child this year and watching their minds expand in the world of electives.
